Guests list is by Invitation only
and the who's who of The Bahamas will be present. Billy Davis and
Family will officially announce the gift of $5 million Dollars,
from their "Billy Davis Family Foundation." This money will be
used to furnish and construct 10 Computer and Science Labs in the
Family Islands.
The first Family Island to receive the
lab will be Rum Cay. Billy Davis has always said that his heart is
deep rooted in Rum Cay. The Foundation has been planning this
announcement almost a year and use Valentines Day to begin a new
Era for Rum Cay.
Billy stated with the presentation of
the $5,000,000.00 check to Bahamian Consul Michael Young that the
future of the Islands is in it's youth.
For too long Rum Cay was left out of
the History books, when in fact Rum Cay was one of the centers of
economic support for the country. In the 1800's Rum Cay housed as
many as 5,000 Bahamians. Rum Cay will once again become a thriving
community that will bring RumCayans home to live and bring up
their families.
There will be a follow-up article after
this official announcement on Thursday.
Copied here is the
Atlanta, Georgia Press Release.

For Immediate Release
Former State Senator Donates Five Million Dollars to Education,
starting in Rum Cay.
Marietta, GA – February 9, 2008 – The Billy Davis Family
Foundation Donated $5,000,000.00 to the students of The Bahamian
Family Islands.
Kennesaw resident and retired Arizona State Senator, Mr. Billy
Davis along with his wife and their three children, Todd, Robyn
and Jason Davis donated five million dollars to build ten computer
and science labs on ten remote islands of The Bahamas known to the
citizens as The Family Islands.
An exciting event was hosted at the prestigious Georgian Club at
the Galleria in Marietta, Georgia where Billy Davis presented the
five million dollar check to Bahamian Consul, Michael Young. Mr.
Young exclaimed to the more than fifty guests that the generosity
of the Davis family far exceeds most gifts of this nature. Mr.
Young stressed the need for students in the Family Islands to have
access to the rest of the world through the click of a mouse.
Billy Davis told the audience, “We have watched the children grow
up in the islands for over 25 years. With our help, we hope to
see many of these students go on to higher education.”
The Davis family has maintained second homes in The Bahamas for
decades. The children of the Family Islands such as Rum Cay know
him as “Uncle Bill.” The Davis family is excited to become a
bigger part of a nation that has been providing years of sun,
sand, sea and great fishing into the third generation of their
family.
A delegation from Atlanta will be attending a presentation
reception at the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau, Bahamas on
February 14, 2008.
The expected guest list includes the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham,
